Title: Sr. Software Engineer - Machine Learning and Data Mining

Summary: Manage a range of classification and optimization challenges to include payment fraud, collaborative filtering/recommendation, spam detection, click-through rate prediction, click-fraud detection, search ranking, text/sentiment classification.

Responsibilities

• Develop highly scalable classifiers and tools leveraging machine learning, data regression, and rules based models.
• Adapt standard machine learning methods to best exploit modern parallel environments (e.g. distributed clusters, multi-core SMP, and GPU)
• Suggest, collect and synthesize requirements and create effective feature roadmap4.
• Design and implement core, back-end spam components.
• Analyze disparate data sources to find obfuscated patterns.
• Rapidly analyze, solve and fix problems.

Requirements

• B.S. Computer Science. M.S. or Ph.D. a plus
• 5+ years experience within e-commerce, social media and/or Financial Services industry with machine learning, classification technologies and other information retrieval algorithms; distributed systems, threading models and server architectures.
• Experience with one or more of the following required: fraud prevention engineering, large-scale data mining for analytics.
• Proven ability to translate insights into business recommendations. Experience working with Product and Front End Engineers.
• Experience building large-scale server applications
• Experience in Agile methodologies and disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance.
• Expert knowledge developing and debugging in object oriented languages to include Java; knowledge of Mysql, Ruby, experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Hadoop/Hbase/Pig or Mapreduce/Sawzall/Bigtable a plus
• Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Python, PHP, and shell scripts.
• Experience with filesystems, server architectures, and distributed systems
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
